Why Study Prophecy?

Let me ask you this: Why should believers study Bible prophecy?

I think there are a number of very good reasons.

First, it’s one of the coolest ways that the Lord shows us His uniqueness.

He alone knows the end from the beginning.

Prophecy is one of His ways of showing us His sovereignty.

Next, studying prophecy protects believers from deceivers who come in Jesus’ name, but don’t line up with God’s Word.

That said, one of the most important reasons to study prophecy is that it keeps us motivated to live a Spirit-filled life.

Being reminded of the Imminence of the Rapture helps us to resolve to walk in obedience, so that others see Christ in us and are drawn to Him.

Prophecy is a great motivator to share the gospel.

I don’t want anyone to have to go through the horrors of the tribulation.

As we see the signs of the Last Days unfold, there is a greater sense of urgency to share the gospel every time the Lord gives us an opportunity.

Being ignorant of prophecy can lead to complacency in our moral choices as well as in sharing the gospel.

We need to be aware of the signs of the end times so that we are well prepared for coming world events.

Like Paul, part of me longs for the rapture so that I can get out of here and be with Jesus, and part of me hopes He tarries so that more folks can come to know Him as Savior and escape the Rapture.

Beloved, studying prophecy is a great motivator to walking in the power of the Spirit so that we are always prepared to defend the hope that is within us.

There are a lot of hopeless people out there.

Why not join me in praying for the Lord of the Harvest to lead us into one last great revival before He comes to catch away His bride?

I hope you’ll join me in this prayer and in the study of His prophetic Word.

Blessings!

Satan’s Media Blitz

For a long time now, Satan has voiced his message through the creative mind of man.

It is essential for believers to know God’s Word inside and out in order to not fall for Satan’s lies promoted in today’s media.

Satan is using our media to erase our Judeo-Christian moral code and replace it with moral anarchy.

We are not far from the time when holding to Biblical moral standards is considered a hate crime.

Satan is the one who founded the Illuminati, and he is using Hollywood and the music industry to promote its not so hidden agenda.

Some of the Illuminati’s symbolism is even creeping into the Christian music scene.

For several years now, Satan has been using the Harry Potter series to lure the next generation into the occult.

It’s the biggest attraction at the Universal Theme Parks.  Come have fun pretending to be a witch or wizard!

Seriously?

This is not play; witchcraft and wizardry are real!

I’ve heard testimonies of folks who were saved out of Satanism who previously had been faithful attendees of church youth groups.

Satan offers power over people, the ability to conjure up wealth and sexual power to entice people to follow him.

Satan also uses movies and TV shows that promote his alien agenda.

He is using shows like Star Trek, the X Files and many movies to desensitize people to UFOs and extra terrestrials.

The things is that smart folks who have studied the UFO/alien evidence have concluded that these are interdimensional beings that the Bible refers to as fallen angels.

Paul warns us that they are masquerading as the good guys, offering us technology and protection.

They’ve come to help us evolve and save the planet.

The Vatican has been very public about welcoming these beings.  The Pope is prepared to baptize them!

Other nations have made their alien files public, but the U.S. hasn’t.

Beloved, no matter what form Satan’s deception takes, it’s still deception.

A desperate world will fall for his lies.

They will sell out to him for the sake of “peace.”

That’s the last thing he will give them!

He intends to make this world a living hell.

We need to be wise and discerning when we evaluate the media’s messages.

We also need to promote the movies coming out that are pointing to Jesus and faith in Him.

Beloved, Jesus’ exhortation is still appropriate for today:  we are “as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.” (Matt. 10:16)

Keep your eyes open; be discerning!

Blessings!

Are You a Prepper?

Are you a Prepper?

You know, the folks who have stockpiled MRE’s and such, in case the power grid goes down?

Now, I’m not here to mock these folks.

In fact, since my mom went on life sustaining oxygen, I am taking serious steps to have a generator ready to go to power her oxygen concentrator.

I also clearly remember the stress of being without power for five days because of Hurricane Sandy.

So, I’m all for preparing for emergencies.

However, there is something far more important to prepare for, and that’s Jesus’ return for His Bride, the Church.

Paul tells us in his second letter to Timothy that those who look and long for Jesus return shall receive the victor’s crown.

My question to you is, “Are you prepared spiritually to meet Jesus?”

First, have you acknowledged your sin and your need for Jesus’ blood to pay the penalty for your sin?

I hope you have, because you don’t want to be here on earth for the Tribulation years.

Second, for those who are followers of Jesus, are you living with the mindset that He could snatch us up to the Wedding Feast of Revelation 19 at any moment?

Jesus told His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for us and that He would return for His Bride, the Church.

Jesus frequently used the Jewish Bridegroom/Bride ritual to illustrate how He would treat the Church.

He is coming to surprise His Bride and steal us away to His Father’s house to celebrate His Wedding Week (7 years).

Are you prepared?

Are you looking for His return, or is life just business as usual?

Bible Prophecy is not meant to scare us; but, to prepare us.  If you’re not prepared, you will be scared!

Paul tells us to prepare by living out  of His grace which teaches us to say, “NO” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.

Beloved, our Bridegroom is coming and world events are indicating that He is coming soon.

Ask the Spirit to show you any areas where you are compromising with the flesh.

Whatever He shows you, repent.

Ask Him to show you the lie behind the temptation and to speak His truth to the lie.

Then, acknowledge your dependence on Him to express His life through you for His glory!

Blessings!

Is the Sky Falling? by Robyn Henning

 meteor over russia

Did you see the footage of the meteor that landed in western Siberia?

It was amazing to hear the sonic boom and then see the effects of the concussion as buildings shook and windows shattered.

I can’t imagine the terror those folks felt when this happened without warning.

We had been told to look for the asteroid that was passing 17,000 miles above earth’s atmosphere, but no scientist saw the meteor coming or the one that passed over the U.S. Northwest.

An Associated Press report stated that the explosion of the meteor was equal to the force generated by 20 atomic bombs.  I have seen the footage of the bombing of Hiroshama, but I cannot even begin to comprehend such estimated force that this meteor generated.

The same article stated that the meteor was about the size of a bus and weighed approximately 7,000 tons or 14,000,000 lbs.

I heard a scientist from the Franklin Institute state that they have identified and named 10,000 asteroids of the estimated 1 million flying around in our galaxy.  That’s not exactly comforting statistics to me.

This scientist also admitted that their sophisticated equipment never detected the meteor that hit Russia.  It seems ironic that a small meteor made a bigger news splash than the highly anticipated ‘near miss’of the asteroid.

As I watched the meteor footage, my thoughts turned to the scenes that unfold in Revelation 6 and 8.  Is this meteor a wakeup call from the Lord?

When the sixth seal is broken, there is a great earthquake along with the celestial signs of a solar eclipse and a blood moon.  Then John describes multiple stars falling on the earth.

Was he seeing meteors?

The impact of these falling stars is severe.  They seem to hit earth with enough force to rearrange earth’s surface topography.

People freak out, even national leaders seek to hide in caves and rocks in order to escape from the presence and wrath of the Lamb.

And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.  And the sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come; and who is able to stand?”  (Rev. 6:12-17).

Later in Revelation 8:10-11, John sees a great star which is called Wormwood fall from heaven like a flaming torch, and it leaves one third of the rivers and springs polluted and undrinkable.

“And the third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters; and the name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”

After seeing the effects of one meteor strike, I can imagine the sheer devastation and chaos that multiple meteor strikes would cause.

We serve the One true and living God who is in control of all things including meteors.  He has given us Revelation so that we will know that He is Who He claims to be.

We are moving closer to the events revealed in Revelation every day.  As His Bride, the Church, are we ready to meet Him in the air?  Are we boldly sharing the gospel or are we too afraid to speak to our unsaved friends for fear of rejection and harassment?

I don’t want anyone to have to be here on earth for the devastating disasters that we see in the Last Days.  I pray for one last great revival on the earth before Jesus comes for His bride.

Revival starts with individual Christians getting their lives in order before the Lord.  We need to evaluate whether we are truly ready for our Bridegroom and then seek to bring many more to a saving faith in Jesus before He comes for His Bride.

Is Vladimir Putin the Gog of Ezekiel 38?

He could be.  He is making choices that make it possible.

While we have heard repeated threats from Iran and its allies to destroy Israel and America, the recent election of Vladimir Putin as President of Russia may have put all the players in place for the fulfillment of the battle of Magog.

Putin is a former KGB bigwig and expresses his vision to expand the borders of Russia.  Just what he means by this is hard to tell for certain.

In his election campaign, Putin made a number of financial promises that he cannot possibly pay for unless the price of oil goes even higher.  Creating conflict in the Middle East could be just the ticket to make that happen.

I watch what is occurring in the Middle East by watching Fox News and CNN as well as reading Joel Rosenberg’s blog.

Ezekiel indicates that the attack on Israel by Magog and its allies will come from the north through Syria and Lebanon.  So, Russia’s alliance with both nations is critical.

Why does Russia have so much interest in Israel and the Middle East?  As Rosenberg reported on March 20, 2012, “An intriguing New York Times story over the weekend explained that for the Kremlin to raise enough money for Putin to keep his lavish campaign promises over the next few years, oil prices would need to average $150 a barrel, significantly higher than the current $120 a barrel. One way to drive up oil prices, of course, would be to encourage or foment more tensions in the Middle East.”

On March 19, 2012, Joel Rosenburg reported the following in his blog:

“A Russian military unit has arrived in Syria, according to Russian news reports, a development that a United Nations Security Council source told ABC News was ‘a bomb’ certain to have serious repercussions,”reports ABC News. “Russia, one of President Bashar al-Assad’s strongest allies despite international condemnation of the government’s violent crackdown on the country’s uprising, has repeatedly blocked the United Nations Security Council’s attempts to halt the violence, accusing the U.S. and its allies of trying to start another war. Now the Russian Black Sea fleet’s Iman tanker has arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus on the Mediterranean Sea with an anti-terror squad from the Russian Marines aboard according to the Interfax news agency. The Assad government has insisted it is fighting a terrorist insurgency. The Russian news reports did not elaborate on the Russian troops’ mission in Syria or if they are expected to leave the port….Moscow has long enjoyed a cozy relationship with the Assad regime, to which it sells billions of dollars of weapons. In return Russia has maintained a Navy base at Tartus, which gives it access to the Mediterranean.”

In his New Czar Rising blog entry on March 1, 2012, Joel Rosenberg notes, “More than anything, Putin wants to regain and reassert the glory and the power of Mother Russia. That means he wants to expand her territory and enlarge her borders. The problem Putin faces is that Russia can’t significantly expand westward because NATO is moving eastward (though Putin has spoken openly of creating a merger with the neighboring country of Belarus, which is also currently run by a tyrannical dictator.) Russia can’t expand eastward because China is now a rich and strong and nuclear-armed power. Russia can’t seriously expand northward because there’s not much to gain from the North Pole. Thus, we should expect him to project power southward. Since 2000, he has, in fact, been building strategic alliances with Islamic countries throughout North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. He has sold billions of dollars worth of arms to Iran, Syria, Algeria, Libya, Sudan and other Islamic powers. He’s been particularly vocal in defending the tyrants in Tehran and Damascus. Expect Moscow’s focus on the Islamic world to increase dramatically. (Note: Putin has spoken openly of creating a Eurasian economic union in Central Asia, similar politically and economically to the European Union but likely dominated by the Kremlin.)”

Also, in 2010 Israel discovered significant oil and natural gas reserves that could make them energy independent.  These findings are also a source of temptation for other nations to invade Israel in hopes of claiming these reserves.  Might this also be part of the ‘hook in the jaws’ that the Lord uses to lure Magog and its allies to launch their attack?

Thankfully, we know who wins.  So, take heart and keep your eyes on all that the Lord is doing!  Pray for the peace of Israel!

The Participants in the Battle of Magog

And the word of the LORD came to me saying,  “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.  And I will turn you about, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; Persia, Ethiopia, and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops– many peoples with you.”’  Ezekiel 38:1-6

We live in amazing times!  Bible prophecy is being played out on the news channels every day.  We serve the author of history who shows His power by declaring what is to come.

All of the countries that the Lord mentions in Ezekiel 38 seem to be gathering together against Israel.  Let’s look at who they are:

  • Gog: this is simply a leadership term akin to President, Czar or Prime Minister.  He is described as a military and political leader and a coalition builder.  In Ezekiel 38:10 we are told that he devises an evil plan against Israel.
  • Magog:  In The Antiquities of the Jews, first century Roman historian, Flavius Josephus, indicated that the people of Magog are the people whom the Greeks referred to as ‘Scythians.’ They migrated from the Middle East northward and settled north of the Black and Caspian Seas in the region we now call Russia and the former Soviet Republics.
  • Perisa:  Until 1935, Persia was the legal name of what we now refer to as Iran.
  • Ethiopia/Cush:  This is the Upper Nile region we now know as Sudan which is a hotbed of radical Islam.
  • Put:  Josephus calls this “ancient Lybios” or what we refer to as the nations of Libya and Algeria, both of which are also hotbeds of militant Islam.
  • Gomer:  This is the nation of Turkey.  For the last 80 years, Turkey has been very pro US, Israel and EU.  However, in the last few years the government has swung away from the West and toward Russia and Iran, while expressing growing hostility toward Israel.
  • Beth Togarmah:  It is hard to know what modern nations precisely make up this part of the alliance.  This region is made up of Turkic-speaking peoples flowing out from Turkey across the Caucasus and central Asian regions.  This area is comprised almost completely of Muslim nations that have close ties to Russia and Iran.

Who is not mentioned in this alliance?

  • Syria and Lebanon are not named in Ezekiel’s prophecy.  However, Ezekiel tells us that this military force will attack from the north, meaning that it will have permission from these two nations to move their forces toward Israel’s borders.
  • Egypt is missing from the prophecy as well.  This is most likely because of the existing peace treaty that was signed with Israel in 1979.  While there have been threats from the new regime to nullify this treaty, it seems that, at least for now, they are going to honor it.
  • Iraq is also missing from this alliance.  Most likely, this is because of their fragile state since their liberation in 2003.

These are the nations to keep an eye on.  Ezekiel makes it clear that their alliance will result in military action against Israel.  But, the God of Israel will intervene in an extraordinary way!  More on that is to come.  Stay tuned!
